COMMUNICATE- Most conflicts, project failures, and employee/customer dissatisfaction come from our failure to communicate and explain things properly. Let them know your goals and direction of travel. Be transparent. If a problem arises, share it. You may be surprised by those around you that will step up and help, or show their understanding of the matter.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE- Employees want to feel appreciated. Fairness and appreciation go a long way! A little encouragement even for your most productive employees can be just enough to keep them going.
TAKE THE LEAD- Employees respect their supervisor who is not afraid of doing the work him/her self. Too much delegation can decrease respect and employee moral. When respect is earned you may be amazed at how quick work starts getting taken off of your plate.
